5 Great Fitness Travel Ideas

In the LifeSpace Travel CommunityGreg Ausley writes:
While I was researching some travel destinations for the summer, I was reminded about hyper-effectiveness covered in My hyper-effective weekend article. As we discussed, the act of combining multiple goals across multiple areas of life into single, comprehensive activities is known in LifeSpace as hyper-effectiveness. So why not combine Travel and Fitness?

I have personally done this for years, getting a group of friends to go for a century bike ride or a destination marathon and combining fun and fitness. But after researching the web on Fitness Travel, I found that there is a thriving industry around this concept.

There are so many great travel fitness ideas but I have narrowed down the choices to 5 great fitness travel ideas for this summer:

1. Fatpacking – This is when you go on a wilderness hike with a guide who’s goal is to drop the weight while seeing great sights. Apparently, most fatpackers lose about 5 pounds per week. The Fatpacking website shows examples of upcoming trips to give you an idea.

2. Yoga Retreats - Getting away to a peaceful and serene location and focusing on mind and body can be very rewarding. A yoga retreat generally provides beautiful surroundings, challenging fitness and healthy eating. Yoga retreats cater to modest and large budgets as well as beginning and advanced levels. This site on Yoga Retreats has many examples or great yoga getaways.

3. Bike Vacation - Planning a trip to bike in a far away land can be an amazing experience. The number of cycling communities around the world has grown tremendously since the turn of the millennium. The Internet has revealed new trails and locations that were never before known outside of the local riders. Check out this Bicycle Touring site and learn more.

4. Spa Destinations - Why not travel to a remote destination and enjoy the spas? When traveling to remote destinations, fitness is automatic. Walking 3-6 miles per day is the norm if done with fitness in mind. Here is a list of great Spa Destinations.

5. Eco-Friendly and Hiking - There are so many great destinations that are both eco-friendly and healthy. This site is a great resource highlighting many Eco-Friendly and Healthy vacation ideas.

So take a look at these great vacation ideas and have an amazing and healthy vacation.
